[ BIKINI - RELAXATION ]

MEANING: Bikinis, or swimsuits if you prefer, are items of clothing that only come out on special occasions. I bet you don't wake up on Monday morning and decide you'll wear your bikini to the office. Bikinis are planned. You pack them in your suitcase or you wear them to the beach. Bikinis are a declaration that you're going to do something out of the ordinary and it's probably going to involve fun or relaxation (and perhaps Pina Coladas if you're lucky). When bikini appears, there's a need for you to schedule in some quality relaxation time. This goes beyond grabbing five-minutes to sit down with a cup of tea and a book. Bikini means business. Take time out of your normal day-to-day activities to relax - put it in your diary and don't reschedule.

MORE: The bikini made its modern debut in 1946 after Louis Reard, a Parisian automobile engineer, came up with the design for this new, daring swimsuit. He named it after the Bikini Atoll where nuclear tests were being carried out. The bikini caused outrage from some quarters such as the Catholic Church (they declared it sinful) and it was banned on many beaches. However, it was a big hit with the men folk — Reard claimed to have received over 50,000 fan mail letters, mostly sent from males. Although the modern bikini has been around only for seventy-years, Reard may have just recycled the design from antiquity. Archaeologists have found Greco-Roman mosaics and urns showing female athletes dressed in bikinis.
